About Charlie Martinson

Charlotte Catherine Martinson (aka Charlie) is a Creative Technologist and Creative Director with over a decade of multi-disciplinary experience spanning interactive media, fine art, and technical quality assurance testing, including test case design.

Her technological practise is rooted in academic principles such as Practise as Process - applying creative learnings from Flow into her software design, test cases, campaign designs and game design, which she applies in her workshohps and promotions. Her work explores the boundaries of immersive storytelling, real-time systems, experiential design, with a special interest in technological and community growth.

Throughout her career, Charlie has led creative output and art direction for decentralized Web3 ecosystems, overseen automated test-engineering frameworks using Selenium to safeguard UX/UI integrity, and lectured in game design methodology at higher education institutions like SAE, as well as collaborating with communities to run her own workshops.

She is the founder of Charcoal Interactives, an experimental creative group dedicated to pushing the limits of interactive media.

Currently expanding her technical infrastructure capabilities, Charlie is preparing to read for her Ph.D. at the University of Abertay.

Her upcoming doctoral research is anchored by the development of two milestone creative-technical works: Water's Dream, an exploration of ecological narrative spaces, and Glow, an investigation into sensory systems integration.

She is actively seeking research grants, artistic funding, and technical production partnerships to bring these installation pipelines to life.
